Episode 1 - the combo lock
What number does it land on and what can it mean?
its literally the coordiantes to the starting point
@michelle Degrees are broken down into degrees minutes and seconds. I don't think this hunt will use minutes or seconds, but the degrees have to be exact. It's not possible to fudge numbers to try to make them into degrees.
@cowlazars In your YouTube chat after Justin left, you guys said the combo 44,26, 1, 10.5 is the GPS coordinates to 9 Mile Hole but on Google Earth, 9 Mile Hole is 44.38, not 44.26. Curious if you could share how you got 44.26 being 9 Mile Hole?
When you go to Yellowstone on Google Maps, the coordinates are 44.26 and 110.5 near Heart Lake. 110 can stretch west to Three River Junction and east to Table Mountain. My first guess is it's near Heart Lake. He mentions "heart" twice in the book's acknowledgement.
Anyone else thinking this as well?
Anyone have thoughts on the times on the clock behind him?
I don't see how the times can mean anything becasue he didnt know what would make it into Netflix.
But what's interesting about the times is that the clock seems to have been set at those different times - he stands up and turns the dials at one point in episode 1.
And if each interview lasts a few hours, the times on the clock never change. They stay at 4:18, 6:06, 1:33, 12:02 and 5:26. if the interview lasted even just 10 minutes, the clock time would shift.
I'm thinking the safe lock is the coordinates 44.26/110.5 and the clock times mean something else. Waiting for the book to arrive to check some things.......
The combo Loc, 44 and 105 should both be followed by two zeros, to get that location more or less exact.
Do you think the 1652 Oak Tree Shilling is a clue? He mentioned it again in an interview?
I think that the Oak Tree is where there will be a check point or the treasure.
@jpsaxnc But the combo lock reads 44-26-1-10. So shouldn't we be looking at 44.26 and 110? That puts us in Yellowstone.
@californiahunter Your probably right, I was thinking of just going with degrees, and leaving out the minutes and seconds. Thinking they might over complicate the search?
@jpsaxnc I wondered if he would actually go back to Yellowstone but maybe it's his way of honoring Fenn and his brother? It just seems unlikely that he would so clearly show 44-26-1-10 and it not mean something.
I am also trying to figure out why he changed the time on the clock and why the clock never moves during his interviews. I think there are 7 or 8 different times shown on the clock (4:18, 6:06) so trying to see if they have any significance.
Just got the book last night so excited to read it.
@californiahunter The lock is showing us more than just numbers, he is also changing directions, as he moves it. Yes I think he would go back to YS. He's talking about the places he loves and YS fits right in that mix of places.
